Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has ruled out the deployment of CSTO or other foreign peacekeepers in Armenia, saying peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan makes their presence unnecessary.
Speaking in parliament on August 25, Pashinyan accused opposition factions, including those linked to former President Robert Kocharyan and Tashir Group chairman Samvel Karapetyan, of seeking the deployment of CSTO peacekeepers in the country, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“Your goal is for CSTO peacekeepers to enter Armenia. There will be no CSTO peacekeepers, and there will be no foreign peacekeepers at all,” Pashinyan said, addressing the Armenia and Strong Armenia opposition factions.
“There will be none because peace has been established, because the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan are the best peacekeepers,” he added.
