Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his congratulations on the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, highlighting the countries’ strategic partnership and Azerbaijan’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a post on X, Zelenskyy said "Azerbaijan’s position on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity has always been firm and therefore always much appreciated."
He said the two countries were continuing to build on their long-standing economic cooperation while expanding ties in energy and security.
Zelenskyy also added that, Ukraine and Azerbaijan had supported each other when needed, expressing confidence that their “friendship, mutual respect, and strategic partnership” would continue to strengthen.
A congratulatory letter from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence has reaffirmed Baku’s commitment to supporting Ukraine.
Aliyev said Azerbaijan would continue providing humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people, while describing bilateral relations as being at a high level.
He highlighted political dialogue, high-level visits and cooperation in the economic, humanitarian and energy sectors as key elements of the countries’ strategic partnership.
Aliyev also said regular contacts and mutual support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and Ukraine were helping strengthen bilateral relations.
