A military court in Russia has begun hearing the case of Colonel Vladimir Udrish, the former head of the Russian Defence Ministry’s Hydrometeorological Service.
Udrish faces charges of abuse of official powers and attempted falsification of official documents. The specific circumstances underlying the allegations have not been made public, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The proceedings are being held behind closed doors, with no further details of the charges disclosed.
The Russian Defence Ministry’s Hydrometeorological Service is responsible for providing the armed forces with operational weather forecasts, information on sea conditions and ice cover, and warnings about hazardous weather phenomena.
The service also provides meteorological assessments and recommendations used in planning military flights, combat exercises and troop movements.
