The CEO of TulaDron, a Russian research and production centre specialising in unmanned aerial systems, has been arrested on suspicion of large-scale fraud, according to local media.
Yevgeny Grigoryev, CEO of the TulaDron Research and Production Centre for Unmanned Aviation Systems, was detained in the Russian city of Tula, local outlet Myslo reported.
Grigoryev was placed in pretrial detention for two months on Aug. 14 on suspicion of fraud on an especially large scale.
More than 1 billion rubles ($11,800) was allocated for the creation of the TulaDron centre, according to the report.
In 2025, Tula Region Governor Dmitry Milyaev said TulaDron would become one of Russia’s 10 largest research and production centres for unmanned systems.
“In January 2025, the TulaDron Research and Production Centre for Unmanned Aviation Systems received from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade the status of a research and production centre for testing and competencies in the development of unmanned aviation system technologies. Following a federal selection process for the purchase of equipment for the centre, a targeted subsidy was allocated,” Milyaev wrote on his Telegram channel.
The specific allegations against Grigoryev and the circumstances of the alleged fraud were not disclosed in the report.
