Russia to extradite Azerbaijani national accused of theft

An Azerbaijani national accused of large-scale theft is to be extradited from Russia, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office has said.

The suspect, Adil Damirov, was identified during an investigation by police in the Imishli district as being allegedly involved in an offence under Article 177.3.2 of Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code, relating to theft causing substantial damage, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Demirov fled the investigation and was subsequently placed on an international wanted list.

A request by Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office for his extradition was approved by Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office.

Azerbaijan’s Penitentiary Service is now taking the necessary steps, in line with international procedures, to arrange his transfer to Azerbaijan.
