Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, the Order of Merit, 3rd Class.


Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev announced the award in a post on X, saying Zelenskyy had honored several international partners of Ukraine with state decorations, Caliber.Az reports.


“President of Ukraine Zelenskyy has honored international partners with state awards.


Among the recipients is Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev, awarded the Order of Merit, (3rd Class).


Congratulations and thank you for cooperation!” Husyev wrote.


The decree awarding Hajiyev the decoration was also published on the official website of the Ukrainian president.


Under the document, Hajiyev and several foreign officials were recognized for their “significant personal contribution to strengthening interstate cooperation”, as well as their support for Ukraine’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity.


Established in 1996, Ukraine’s Order of Merit is awarded to both Ukrainian citizens and foreign nationals for outstanding achievements in areas including economic development, science, culture, military service, philanthropy and the advancement of interstate cooperation.
