Inter Miami forward and captain Lionel Messi swore at the referees following his team’s 4-1 defeat to Nashville in a Major League Soccer (MLS) regular-season match.
According to ESPN, the 39-year-old forward expressed his frustration with the referee’s actions after Nashville’s third goal, claiming the official had failed to take notice of his fall during the play. Messi was shown a yellow card for his reaction and responded by sarcastically applauding the referee.
After the final whistle, Messi walked past referee Drew Fischer and swore at him while looking him in the eye.
