BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 13. Russian airline
Nordwind Airlines will launch new regular flights connecting Kazan
with Uzbekistan’s Samarkand and Namangan, expanding direct air
links between Russia’s Tatarstan region and Uzbek cities.
This was reflected in the statement by the Uzbekistan
Airports.
Flights on the Kazan–Samarkand route will begin on August 26,
with services operating on Wednesdays. Return flights from
Samarkand to Kazan will begin on August 27.
Regular flights on the Kazan–Namangan route are scheduled to
start on September 5, operating on Saturdays. Return flights from
Namangan to Kazan will operate on Sundays, beginning September
6.
The new routes are expected to expand direct air connectivity
between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan and create additional
opportunities for tourism, business and cultural exchanges.
The launch comes as air connectivity between Kazan and
Uzbekistan continues to expand. Nordwind began operating regular
flights between Kazan and Tashkent on July 18, with services
currently scheduled twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
“The new routes will expand opportunities for direct air travel
between Tatarstan and Uzbek cities, creating additional conditions
for the development of tourism, business and cultural ties,” the
statement said.
The additional connections could facilitate travel for tourists
and business travelers while making it easier for residents of
Uzbekistan and Tatarstan to maintain commercial and cultural
ties.
Samarkand, one of Uzbekistan’s major tourism destinations, is
expected to benefit from increased direct connectivity, while the
new Namangan route will provide another link between Russia and the
country’s eastern Fergana Valley.
Nordwind Airlines is a privately owned Russian carrier
established in 2008. Its main base is Moscow’s Sheremetyevo
Airport. The airline operates a network of more than 200
destinations using Boeing 737, Boeing 777, Airbus A321 and Airbus
A330 aircraft.
