BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11. Kazakhstan and
Kyrgyzstan discussed current issues of bilateral relations and
prospects for further cooperation on multilateral platforms.
This was announced by the press service of the Kazakh MFA
following a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Isagaliev
and Kyrgyz Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kudaibergen Bazarbayev on
August 11.
According to the Ministry, in the course of the meeting,
particular attention was paid to preparations for the SCO summit,
scheduled to be held in Bishkek on September 1, 2026.
“The parties emphasized the need to further strengthen practical
cooperation within the SCO, including expanding economic ties,
developing transport connectivity, strengthening cultural and
humanitarian contacts and improving the effectiveness of
multilateral cooperation mechanisms,” the ministry said.
Kazakhstan also reaffirmed its support for Kyrgyzstan's SCO
chairmanship and readiness to assist in successfully implementing
its priorities.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan maintain close economic and
political ties, supported by regular high-level contacts and
cooperation within regional organizations. The two countries are
members of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Commonwealth of
Independent States, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and
the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Bilateral cooperation covers
trade, investment, transport, water and energy, as well as cultural
and humanitarian ties, while cooperation in transport and logistics
has gained additional importance as both countries seek to
strengthen regional connectivity and expand trade routes across
Central Asia.
