BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11. Tajikistan and
Kuwait discussed prospects for expanding cooperation within
international organizations during a meeting between senior
diplomatic officials from the two countries.
This was reflected in the statement by the Tajikistan's Foreign
Ministry following a meeting between Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister
Idibek Kalandar and newly appointed Kuwaiti Ambassador to
Tajikistan Muhammad Rashid Al Amiri on August 10.
The sides reviewed the current state of Tajik-Kuwaiti relations
and exchanged views on opportunities to further develop cooperation
through international organizations and multilateral platforms.
Particular attention was given to strengthening coordination
between Dushanbe and Kuwait on issues of mutual interest within
international organizations, with the sides discussing ways to
maintain regular dialogue and support mutually beneficial
initiatives.
"The parties discussed the current state and prospects for
developing cooperation between Tajikistan and Kuwait within
international organizations," the Tajik Foreign Ministry said.
The meeting comes as Tajikistan continues to expand diplomatic
and economic engagement with Gulf countries and strengthen
cooperation through multilateral institutions. Kuwait, meanwhile,
maintains an active diplomatic presence in Central Asia and has
opportunities to deepen engagement with Tajikistan through
development, investment and international cooperation
mechanisms.
Closer coordination at international organizations could provide
both countries with an additional channel for advancing shared
positions on regional and global issues, while also supporting
broader bilateral relations.
The appointment of Al Amiri as Kuwait's new ambassador to
Tajikistan provides an opportunity to establish a new phase of
diplomatic engagement between the two countries. Regular
consultations between the foreign ministries could help identify
areas for practical cooperation beyond the multilateral agenda.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing interest in
continuing dialogue and further strengthening Tajik-Kuwaiti
cooperation on international platforms.
