BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. UNESCO continues
close cooperation with Kyrgyzstan across culture, science and
education through its headquarters in Paris and Regional Office in
Almaty, a representative of UNESCO told Trend.


"Both through its Headquarters in Paris and its Office in
Almaty, UNESCO works closely with the Kyrgyzstan authorities,
including the National Commission for UNESCO and the Permanent
Delegation to UNESCO, in the fields of culture, science and
education," the organization said.


According to UNESCO, Kyrgyzstan has three UNESCO World Heritage
sites, 16 elements on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage lists,
two biosphere reserves, one inscription on UNESCO's Memory of the
World Register and one UNESCO Chair.


UNESCO also noted that gender equality remains a cross-cutting
priority across all UNESCO activities in Kyrgyzstan.


Meanwhile, cooperation between UNESCO and Kyrgyzstan has
intensified in recent years as the country continues to implement
international recommendations on the protection of its World
Heritage sites.







The collaboration has included reactive monitoring and advisory
missions, technical consultations, and capacity-building activities
designed to strengthen site management, improve conservation
practices, and support the long-term preservation of Kyrgyzstan's
cultural and natural heritage in line with UNESCO standards.


According to Trend's analysis, UNESCO's broad engagement reflects
the organization's long-standing partnership with Kyrgyzstan in
preserving cultural heritage, promoting quality education,
advancing scientific cooperation, and supporting sustainable
development. The country's active participation in UNESCO's
programs has contributed to safeguarding both tangible and
intangible heritage while strengthening institutional capacity in
several sectors.


Looking ahead, continued cooperation with UNESCO is expected to
support the implementation of international standards in heritage
conservation, education, and science. Expanding joint initiatives
could also enhance cultural exchange, foster innovation, and
contribute to Kyrgyzstan's long-term social and economic
development.
