BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 10. Turkmenistan's
Ministry of Automobile Transport has begun accepting applications
for cargo transportation by road for 2027.
This was announced by the press service of Turkmenistan's
Ministry of Automobile Transport on August 10.
Applications from legal entities and individuals will be
accepted until September 15, 2026, the ministry reported.
The application process is intended to determine in advance the
demand of enterprises, entrepreneurs and individuals for cargo
transportation and incorporate expected transportation volumes into
the sector's planning for next year.
“Collecting applications allows the needs of enterprises,
entrepreneurs and citizens for cargo transportation to be
identified in advance and expected transportation volumes to be
taken into account when planning the sector's activities for the
following year,” the ministry said.
The preliminary collection of applications is also expected to
facilitate more efficient allocation of road transport resources
and planning based on anticipated demand.
The ministry noted that the process is particularly relevant for
organizations requiring regular or large-scale transportation of
raw materials, equipment, construction materials and other
goods.
Meanwhile, road transport remains an important component of
Turkmenistan's domestic and international freight system,
particularly for moving cargo between production centers,
industrial facilities, border crossings and seaports. Its role is
also linked to the country's efforts to strengthen its position as
a transit hub between Central Asia, the Caspian region and
neighboring markets.
Turkmenistan's transport strategy increasingly focuses on
integrating different modes of transport, with road links providing
connections to railways, ports and international road corridors.
This is particularly relevant for cargo moving through the
Turkmenbashi International Seaport, which provides a link between
Central Asian markets and the Caspian routes toward Azerbaijan and
the South Caucasus.
