BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 8. Iran's position on
the U.S. hasn't changed.
This was stated by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at a
press conference organized by him with reporters in Tehran.
"Iran's position on the U.S. stands tough. There is no doubt
about that. In any case, those negotiations, discussions, and
diplomacy forced the U.S. to reach an agreement with Iran," he
noted.
Pezeshkian said that Iran must protect the achievements made in
the field of diplomacy. The other side must act according to the
instructions written by Iran and Oman. If they aren't implemented,
Iran will also respond. In such cases, a delegation is being formed
to resolve the violation of the memorandum of understanding.
"In any case, the process is being monitored. It is hoped that
the work will continue for the sake of Iran's pride and honor," he
noted.
Meanwhile, the latest escalation in U.S.-Iranian relations began
on July 8. On that day, for the first time since the signing of the
memorandum between Washington and Tehran, the U.S. military carried
out several waves of strikes on Iranian territory, claiming that
this was in response to an attack on a merchant ship in the Strait
of Hormuz. On the same day, U.S. President Donald Trump announced
the end of the ceasefire with Iran. In response, Tehran began
attacking U.S. facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the
UAE, and Oman. The Iranian side currently states that the Strait of
Hormuz has been closed.
