BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. Turkmenistan has
launched an online system allowing foreign citizens and their hosts
to complete registration procedures without visiting migration
service offices.
This was announced by the press service of the State Migration
Service of Turkmenistan.
The system was developed following amendments to the country's
migration legislation in 2026.
The amendments modernized rules concerning the registration of
foreign citizens and stateless persons at their place of stay,
extension of their period of stay, and removal from
registration.
According to the migration service, “foreign citizens, as well
as individuals and legal entities receiving them, can register
foreign citizens through the online service without visiting the
Service's offices.”
The system enables electronic document management, saves time,
and allows migration procedures to be completed more quickly and
through a simplified process, the report noted.
The State Migration Service said the digital system is intended
to improve the efficiency of its operations and bring its
activities in line with modern requirements.
The service identified expanding international cooperation,
improving the quality of migration services and introducing digital
systems and international best practices among its priority
tasks.
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan's migration procedures are becoming
increasingly relevant as the country expands contacts with foreign
businesses, investors and international organizations. Foreign
specialists and business representatives are involved in projects
across the energy, transport, construction and industrial sectors,
while international events and bilateral forums also generate
regular travel to the country. Streamlining registration and other
administrative procedures can therefore reduce the time required
for foreign visitors and their host organizations to complete
mandatory formalities.
The move toward online registration also forms part of
Turkmenistan's broader efforts to digitize public services and
introduce electronic document management.
