BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. Azerbaijan supports
the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its
internationally recognized borders and will keep providing
humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people.


This was announced by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun
Bayramov during his joint press conference with his Ukrainian
counterpart Andrii Sybiha held in Kyiv.


The minister noted that during the meeting, detailed discussions
were held on all aspects of Azerbaijani-Ukrainian relations, as
well as an exchange of views on international and regional issues
of mutual interest.


"We pay very great attention to our relations with Ukraine. We
are connected by long-standing friendly relations and interstate
relations," he pointed out.


Bayramov recalled that next year will mark the 35th anniversary
of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and
Ukraine.


The minister emphasized that regular contacts continue at the
level of foreign ministers. He noted that political consultations
were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in 2025, and
last year, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for
Economic Cooperation was held in Baku.


Bayramov also said that from the first days of military
operations, Azerbaijan has called for the diplomatic resolution of
all disputes.


"We always support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of
Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. The
prolongation of the conflict harms international peace and security
and creates grave humanitarian consequences," the minister
stressed.


He highlighted that Azerbaijan considers humanitarian support to
Ukraine a moral duty.


"On February 27, 2022, the first humanitarian cargo was sent
from Azerbaijan to Ukraine. Since then, we have provided
humanitarian assistance worth $50 million, and this assistance
continues," said Bayramov.


According to the minister, within the framework of humanitarian
support, the Irpin Humanitarian Foreign Languages ​​​​Lyceum named
after Zarifa Aliyeva was restored, twinning relations were
established between the city of Irpin and one of the cities of
Azerbaijan, and 700 Ukrainian children benefited from
rehabilitation and psychological support programs in
Azerbaijan.


He stressed that Azerbaijan is determined to continue providing
humanitarian assistance in accordance with the needs identified by
the Ukrainian side.


Bayramov said that during the meeting, he informed the Ukrainian
side about the latest situation in the South Caucasus, the process
of normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the
restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the liberated
territories. He also noted that the mine threat continues in those
areas, which poses a threat to people's lives.


The minister added that despite the difficulties caused by the
war, there are trends in economic relations between Azerbaijan and
Ukraine that are recovering. According to him, the bilateral trade
turnover amounted to $900 million in 2021, $350 million in 2023,
and last year it exceeded $500 million. In the first six months of
this year, this indicator has already reached $280 million.


Bayramov said that the parties also discussed specific steps to
expand cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, energy,
humanitarian aid, education, science, culture, youth exchange,
sports, and healthcare. According to him, these directions will
serve to further strengthen the strategic partnership.
