BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. Control over the
compliance of non-food consumer goods imported into Azerbaijan with
safety requirements is planned to be strengthened.
This is reflected in the amendments to the Customs Code approved
by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The
document text has been published on his official website.
According to the amendment, when goods to which technical
regulations and referenced standards are applied are imported into
the country, documents confirming their compliance with safety
requirements - a certificate of conformity, a declaration of
conformity, or documents of conformity of recognized foreign origin
- must be submitted to the customs authorities.
According to the document, customs officers are authorized to
check whether imported goods are accompanied by the specified
documents of conformity.
The law applies to goods imported 2 years after the entry into
force of both technical regulations and referenced standards.
This law shall enter into force 30 days after the date of its
publication.
