Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa received Iraqi Kurdistan President Nechirvan Barzani in Damascus during his first visit to Syria since the country's change of government, where the two sides discussed bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on expanding economic cooperation.


Barzani’s visit to Syria is the first by the leader of Iraq's Kurdistan Region since the country's change of government, Caliber.Az reports, citing Syrian media.


During the meeting, the leaders also reviewed the latest regional developments and other issues of mutual interest.


Following the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together to strengthen security and stability, while advancing broader regional cooperation.
