Israel's Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee has approved a government request to extend the country's emergency military mobilization order until September 30.
The measure, which passed by a 4-2 vote, authorizes the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to call up as many as 240,000 reservists to support ongoing military operations, The Times of Israel reports.
The extension comes as Israel continues its military campaign in the Gaza Strip. Emergency mobilization orders have been routinely renewed every few months since the outbreak of the war in October 2023, allowing the IDF to maintain a high level of operational readiness amid continuing security challenges.
