Azerbaijan and Türkiye are working to establish a simplified customs corridor as part of broader efforts to strengthen trade and customs cooperation among member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee Shahin Baghirov said.
In an interview with Report News Agency and İctimai TV, Baghirov said customs cooperation within the OTS continues to deepen. Alongside the initiative with Türkiye, Azerbaijan is also collaborating with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on the exchange of preliminary customs data.
"We already have our own research and practical groundwork for implementing the simplified customs corridor," Baghirov said.
He said one of the State Customs Committee's main priorities is the development and implementation of a Single Window system to streamline customs procedures across the region.
"We have incorporated this into our plan and set it as an objective. Other OTS member states have also shown strong interest in this initiative. Through the Single Window mechanism, we aim to create a unique system connecting the Middle Corridor and the Turkic states—one that could serve as a model for the rest of the world. Azerbaijan is playing a very active role in this process, and most of the initiatives originate from us," Baghirov noted.
