Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said that Israeli forces would remain in security zones in Lebanon, Syria and the Gaza Strip for an unlimited period, underscoring Israel’s commitment to maintaining its security presence in the areas.
Speaking at a graduation ceremony for Israel Defence Forces combat officers, Katz said the military would not withdraw from the designated security zones and would prioritise the protection of Israeli citizens and troops.
“The IDF will remain in the security zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza without any time limit,” Katz was quoted as saying by the Israeli news portal.
“We will not compromise on the vital issue of Israel’s security.”
Katz also warned Iran against any attack on Israel, saying Tehran would face a forceful response.
“If Tehran attacks Israel because of its actions in Lebanon or for any other reason, we will strike Iran with full force, in a way that clearly demonstrates the gap in power between us,” he said.
