A light aircraft crashed and burst into flames in Warsaw’s western Bemowo district, killing two people on board the flight.
The aircraft went down shortly after 1 p.m. while attempting to land at the local Bemowo Airport, immediately catching fire upon impact, TVP World reports.
Firefighters confirmed that two people were on board the aircraft and did not survive the crash.
Two bystanders were also injured and were taken to hospital, according to Łukasz Darmofalski from the provincial headquarters of the State Fire Service.
He added that the aircraft had veered off the runway and struck a building, and had already burned to the ground before firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.
Four fire brigades were dispatched to the scene and are currently securing the accident site as an investigation into the cause of the crash is expected to follow.
