Azerbaijan will assist in restoring and renovating more than 100 schools across Syria as part of its broader support for the country's reconstruction efforts, Member of Parliament for Aleppo Tarık Sulo Cevizci said.

Speaking at the 2nd Turkmen heritage: Solidarity of civil societies Forum, the Aleppo representative stated that Azerbaijan plans to restore 10 schools and renovate an additional 100 educational institutions in Syria, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

According to Cevizci, Azerbaijan has been providing multifaceted support to Syria since the establishment of relations with the country's new leadership.

"Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to establish contact with Syria's new leadership in the current period. By sending diplomatic representatives to Damascus, Azerbaijan demonstrated its readiness to develop cooperation and played a key role in restoring interstate relations. Azerbaijan's humanitarian assistance has made a significant contribution to overcoming the consequences of the war. In addition, Baku is providing support in the economic, cultural, and energy spheres," he said.

The Syrian lawmaker also highlighted the significance of President Ahmed al-Sharaa's recent visit to Azerbaijan, describing it as an important step in strengthening bilateral ties.

"The meetings held by the Syrian leader during this visit are of great importance for strengthening the strategic partnership between our countries," Cevizci emphasized.
