Technological transformation is among the central pillars of Azerbaijan’s economic development agenda, First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev said during a meeting with executives of companies participating in the Digital Economy Development Support Program.
The initiative is being implemented as part of Azerbaijan’s Digital Economy Development Strategy for 2026–2029 and is aimed at accelerating the country’s transition toward a more innovation-driven and competitive economy, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Economy, focused on the strategic objectives of the national digital economy agenda, including the acceleration of digital transformation across the business sector, public institutions, and society as a whole.
Participants emphasized that the strategy seeks to expand the adoption of innovative technologies, strengthen economic competitiveness, and support the modernization of key industries. It was also noted that government-backed incentive and support mechanisms are designed to facilitate the private sector’s transition to digital technologies and enhance the integration of Azerbaijani enterprises into global value chains.
During the meeting, officials reported on the progress of the Digital Economy Development Support Program, under which detailed assessments of production and business processes have been conducted in companies operating in the retail, food processing, construction, metallurgy, and manufacturing sectors.
As part of the initiative, more than 400 potential digital transformation projects and over 160 sustainability-related practices were evaluated. Based on the results of these assessments, tailored digital transformation roadmaps were developed for each participating enterprise.
