US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to the UAE’s security as part of a meeting with President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other senior Emirati officials in Abu Dhabi.
The officials discussed President Donald Trump’s memorandum of understanding with Iran, efforts to ensure safe and uninterrupted transit through the Strait of Hormuz, and the importance of peace and stability in the region, Caliber.Az reports, citing a statement by US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott.
He said they reviewed the strong bilateral relationship between the United States and the United Arab Emirates, as well as continued cooperation in the fields of defense and trade.
“The Secretary thanked the UAE for their leadership and unparallelled support, praised their courage and resilience in the face of Iran’s attacks, and reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to the security of the Emirates,” the statement noted.
