Azerbaijan is set to accede to the Metric Convention, a landmark international treaty that established the global framework for uniform measurement standards.


A draft law on the ratification of the convention was discussed on June 19 at a meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Ties. Following deliberations, committee members recommended the bill for consideration at a plenary session of the Milli Majlis, the country's parliament, Caliber.Az reports per local media


The Metric Convention, signed in Paris on May 20, 1875, by representatives of 17 countries, laid the foundation for international cooperation in metrology—the science of measurement.
