The Baku Declaration on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights has been adopted following the International Baku Ombudsmen Summit on the theme "Human Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities, Risks and Responsibilities."

The document emphasizes that the protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as human dignity, must remain the top priority in the development and application of artificial intelligence technologies, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The declaration recommends that states develop safe, transparent and accountable AI governance mechanisms, ensure data protection, prevent algorithmic bias, and strengthen legal oversight.

It also highlights the importance of assessing the impact of AI systems on human rights, maintaining human oversight in decision-making processes, protecting personal data, and enhancing cybersecurity.

The document addresses issues related to combating algorithmic discrimination, protecting vulnerable groups, improving digital literacy, countering disinformation and hate speech, and expanding cooperation among ombudsman institutions, international partners, and the private sector.
