Türkiye’s Centre for Combating Disinformation under the Presidency has warned of an increase in cyber fraud attempts linked to the upcoming NATO summit, which is scheduled to take place in the country on July 7–8, 2026, according to a statement shared on X.
The agency said that phishing attempts have recently been detected via email, SMS, and social media platforms. Fraudsters are reportedly sending messages using alarmist language while imitating the style and symbols of state institutions.
In particular, users have received notifications claiming that their accounts have been blocked and urging them to urgently complete a “security check” through provided links.
The centre emphasised that such messages are fraudulent and aimed at gaining access to personal data. It stressed that government institutions do not conduct checks via suspicious links and do not send such requests.
