Iran’s conservative Khorasan daily, which is closely aligned with chief negotiator and parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has cautioned Iranian officials against taking part in any symbolic gestures with US representatives during a potential agreement-signing ceremony in Switzerland, Iran International reports.
The newspaper warned that senior American officials, including US Vice President JD Vance or even President Donald Trump, could travel to Switzerland for the expected signing of a memorandum of understanding.
According to Khorasan, Washington is seeking a highly publicized image from the event.
“The Iranian delegation’s protocol team must be careful from now,” the newspaper wrote, stressing that Iranian officials should not agree to a “souvenir photo” with American counterparts or engage in a handshake with Trump.
