Davit Ghazinyan, a representative of the “Strong Armenia” bloc, has been arrested, his lawyer, Aram Vardevanyan, confirmed.
Kazinyan had previously been detained after the Central Electoral Commission lifted his immunity. According to the defence, a court hearing lasted throughout the night and concluded at 07:10, with the ruling expected at 09:00, before the arrest decision was later announced.
The lawyer described the ruling as unlawful, claiming that no substantive arguments were presented during the proceedings.
Earlier, Vardevanyan stated that the case against Ghazinyan relates to alleged “preparation for bribery.” Ghazinyan’s name appears in recordings published by the Anti-Corruption Committee two weeks ago.
The defence argues that the charges are politically motivated, while authorities have not issued further detailed public comments on the case.
