Six people were killed and 20 others injured after a road accident in Pangasinan province in northern Philippines, Xinhua reports.

According to police, a truck carrying workers from a solar power plant plunged into a ravine in the town of Labrador shortly after 18:00 on June 16. Preliminary findings suggest the vehicle’s brakes failed, causing the driver to lose control while descending a mountain road on a curve.

Before going off the road, the truck collided with a pickup vehicle carrying 12 passengers. It then veered off the roadway and fell into a ravine.

Rescue operations are ongoing, and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident has been launched.
