Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has called on member states of the Organisation of Turkic States to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital development, and cybersecurity amid rising geopolitical tensions and hybrid security threats.
Speaking at a meeting of the OTS Council of Foreign Ministers in Turkistan, Bayramov stressed that closer coordination in emerging technologies is increasingly important for regional resilience and security, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He highlighted the strategic role of the Middle Corridor, along with efforts to expand digital connectivity and enhance cybersecurity collaboration among Turkic states. Bayramov also pointed to the importance of AI-driven innovation in supporting long-term economic and technological development.
The minister drew attention to the “Digital Silk Road” initiative and plans to develop a Trans-Caspian fibre-optic cable, describing them as key projects for strengthening regional digital infrastructure.
He also briefed participants on Azerbaijan’s Accelerated Digital Development Plan for 2026–2028, as well as ongoing smart reconstruction projects in territories regained by Azerbaijan in recent years.
In addition, Bayramov highlighted the upcoming 13th session of the World Urban Forum, which will be held in Baku from May 17 to 22, describing it as a reflection of the country’s focus on sustainable urban development.
The minister reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to digital transformation and to expanding cooperation within the Turkic bloc in the fields of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
