Azerbaijan and Pakistan have further strengthened air connectivity, with the number of weekly direct flights between the two countries rising to 10, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov announced on X on May 2.
The increase follows the launch of new direct services by Pakistani carrier Airblue, which began operating flights from Lahore to Baku the same day. Farhadov said the development marks “significant progress” in bilateral relations, highlighting improved connectivity between the two “brotherly” nations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
With the addition of Airblue’s new route, the total number of weekly direct flights now includes services operated by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), and Airblue. According to the ambassador, AZAL operates six flights per week, while PIA and Airblue each operate two.
Earlier, Pakistani Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin confirmed that Airblue had launched its inaugural direct flights from Lahore to Baku on May 2.
