Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine is willing to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which he described as being blocked by both Iran and US naval forces.

In an interview with Die Welt, Zelenskyy also discussed Ukraine’s broader strategic and security experience amid ongoing global maritime tensions.

“The Strait of Hormuz is closed, and we want to open it. We already have experience in closing the Black Sea,” the Ukrainian leader said.

Zelenskyy added that US President Donald Trump has not yet requested Kyiv’s assistance in efforts to unblock the strategic waterway.
