The Portuguese government has welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, as well as the corresponding arrangements to resume maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement by Portugal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lisbon expressed its gratitude to Pakistan for its mediating efforts, while also acknowledging the contributions of all parties involved in the negotiations.
The statement highlighted that the agreements mark “a first decisive step” toward a sustainable and long-term diplomatic resolution of the conflict. Portugal further reaffirmed its support for ongoing diplomatic initiatives, noting recent communications with the foreign ministers of Pakistan and Egypt.
