Germany has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and US-Israel, describing it as a “decisive first step” toward lasting peace.


Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul expressed gratitude to all parties that supported the agreement, highlighting Pakistan’s role in facilitating the ceasefire. He warned that the continuation of hostilities would have “incalculable” consequences for the region, Caliber.Az reports.

A reminder that US President Donald Trump announced late on April 7 that Washington had agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran. The announcement was made less than two hours before a deadline he had set for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, after making threats such as “a whole civilization will die tonight” if Iran failed to comply with US demands.
