Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for providing humanitarian assistance, posting a statement on his X account.
“I extend my thanks to the government and people of Azerbaijan for their humanitarian aid and for facilitating the delivery of assistance from other countries,” Araghchi said, adding that the support shown during difficult times reflects the shared culture that unites the peoples of Iran and Azerbaijan.
On March 18, a second shipment of aid was sent to meet the urgent needs of Iran’s neighboring and friendly population, following a phone conversation on March 8, 2026, between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The first humanitarian shipment from Azerbaijan arrived on March 10 and included roughly 30 tons of food—10 tons of flour, 6 tons of rice, 2.4 tons of sugar, over 4 tons of drinking water, about 600 kilograms of tea—as well as around 2 tons of medicines and medical supplies.
