Sudan has once again expressed strong support for Azerbaijan following a recent drone attack on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council, condemned attacks on several “brotherly nations” and reaffirmed solidarity with the affected countries, including Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
In a statement to the Sudanese people on the occasion of the Ramadan celebration, al-Burhan denounced assaults on Gulf states, as well as Lebanon, Palestine, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan, affirming Sudan’s firm backing of these nations against threats to their security and stability.
Al-Burhan emphasised Sudan’s principled stance on respecting state sovereignty and non-interference in domestic affairs. He rejected all forms of aggression that undermine regional security and stability.
Earlier, al-Burhan sent a message of solidarity to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, offering Sudan’s support following the Nakhchivan attack.
Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Muhi al-Din Salem Ahmed, also spoke with Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov by phone, condemning the strike and reaffirming the Sudanese government and people’s solidarity with Azerbaijan.
