Abu Dhabi state-owned oil company ADNOC has closed its Ruwais refinery following a drone strike, a source told Reuters.
The closure was prompted after a fire broke out at a facility within the complex. The emirate’s government media office said authorities were responding to the fire and confirmed that no injuries had occurred.
The Ruwais complex, a central hub for ADNOC’s downstream operations, houses facilities capable of refining up to 922,000 barrels of oil per day and includes significant chemical, fertilizer, and industrial gas plants.
A source familiar with the matter told Reuters that the refinery has been shut as a precautionary measure, while all other operations at the complex are continuing as normal.
