French President Emmanuel Macron accused Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian of actions destabilising the region during a phone call, while emphasising the need to maintain ongoing diplomatic contact.
Writing on X, Macron noted that they had agreed to stay in touch..
The French leader said he conveyed “serious concern over the development of Iran’s nuclear and ballistic programs, as well as its destabilising activities in the region, which underpin the current crisis.”
Macron called on Iran to “immediately cease strikes against regional countries” and stressed that Tehran must “guarantee freedom of navigation, ending the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.”
He added that a diplomatic solution was more necessary than ever to address these critical challenges, halt the escalation, and preserve peace.
