Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, underscoring continued transatlantic dialogue on Arctic and security issues.
In a statement following the meeting, Frederiksen described the talks as constructive and said discussions would continue within the framework of a high-level working group previously agreed upon by the parties, Caliber.Az reports.
Further details of the agenda were not immediately disclosed.
The meeting comes amid earlier tensions between the sides as US President Donald Trump repeatedly threatened to annex Greenland.
Washington’s demands regarding Greenland have shaken transatlantic relations and accelerated European efforts to reduce dependence on the United States, even as Trump later withdrew tariff threats against Europe and ruled out taking Greenland by force.
