Passengers aboard a Boeing 737-700 flying from Lagos to Port Harcourt experienced a frightening incident when an engine malfunction occurred during the flight over Nigeria.

According to Telegram channel SHOT, travellers heard a loud explosion mid-air and, upon looking through the windows, noticed that one of the aircraft’s engines had been badly damaged. Reports indicate that the engine exploded while the plane was still in flight.

The pilot declared an emergency and diverted the aircraft to Benin Airport, where an emergency landing was carried out due to a technical failure. A total of 80 people were on board, and no injuries were reported.
