Iran has reportedly moved to shield itself from possible US strikes by deploying Russian-made Tirada-2S electronic warfare systems, according to the Telegram channel War Hronika.

The publication states that the Tirada-2S electronic warfare complex is capable of generating interference against modern satellite communication systems, including those operating in the Ka- and Ku-frequency bands. It is also described as effective in disrupting signals from Starlink satellites.

Back in October 2018, a source within Russia’s defence-industrial sector told Interfax that the Tirada-2S system had successfully completed testing in Russia and possessed the capability to disable communications satellites belonging to a potential adversary.

Earlier that year, in July, the newspaper Military-Industrial Courier included the Tirada system among six Russian weapons platforms whose tactical and technical specifications were said to outperform leading Western analogues.
