Poland’s Operational Command of the Armed Forces said in a morning statement that military aviation operations had been launched in Polish airspace in response to Russian activity over Ukraine.
According to a post by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces (DORSZ) on the social media platform X, the decision was taken due to actions carried out by Russia over Ukrainian territory.
“In line with established procedures, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces has mobilised the forces and resources available to it. Ground-based air defence systems and radar reconnaissance assets have been placed on a state of readiness,” the command said.
The Operational Command added that the measures being implemented are preventive in nature and are intended to ensure the security of Poland’s airspace, with particular attention to areas located near potentially dangerous zones.
