A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 struck the Philippines in the morning of January 21, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).


The tremor was recorded at 9:33 am local time. Its epicentre was located about 38 kilometres south-west of the town of Kalamansig, which has a population of around 13,000.


The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres, the EMSC said.
