Several people were killed in a blast that struck the Shahr-e-Naw neighbourhood of Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, the Taliban’s Interior Ministry reported on January 19.

The Interior Ministry spokesperson, Abdul Mateen Qani, told Reuters that, according to preliminary reports, a number of people were killed and injured, adding that further details would be released later.

Shahr-e-Naw, a neighbourhood considered one of Kabul’s most secure areas, is home to many foreigners.
