Israeli security forces have arrested a Hamas operative suspected of shooting and wounding an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier during an operational activity in the West Bank city of Nablus, following an intensive manhunt that lasted less than 24 hours.


The arrest was carried out in a joint operation by the IDF and the Israeli Security Agency (ISA, Shin Bet), Caliber.Az reports, citing a statement by the IDF and the ISA.


In a joint announcement, the IDF and ISA said:



The suspect was identified as Zaid Kharraz, whom the statement described as “a terrorist belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization.”


According to the announcement, the rapid identification and arrest of the suspect were enabled by precise intelligence guidance and the deployment of multiple IDF and ISA operational capabilities in the area.



Israeli security forces emphasized that operations would continue to prevent attacks and ensure security in the West Bank.
