Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban warned that providing €800 billion in EU assistance to Ukraine would lead to the collapse of the European economy.

Orban made the statement on the social media platform X, saying:

“Ukraine is asking for €800 billion over the next decade, not counting military costs. <…> We refuse! This

He argued that Brussels, by pushing for such a level of support for Kyiv, is effectively forcing Hungary to dismantle “family support, pensions, cheap energy, hospitals, and fair taxes.”

Orban also stressed that Budapest would continue to put the interests of the Hungarian people first.
