Ukraine’s Deputy Energy Minister Roman Andarak met with Daiva Matonienė, the newly appointed energy adviser at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania, as the two countries coordinate efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience.
The talks focused on the state of Ukraine’s energy system, the security of nuclear and energy facilities, and further cooperation in the energy sector, Caliber.Az reports via Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy.
Andarak briefed the Lithuanian side on the situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and the impact of Russia’s ongoing attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. He noted that despite extremely challenging conditions, Ukraine’s energy system continues to recover steadily.
International support was a key focus of the meeting. The deputy minister expressed gratitude to Lithuania for its consistent assistance, highlighting its contribution to maintaining stable energy supplies through the transfer of equipment for emergency repair work provided via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
The discussion also covered Ukraine’s European integration
In addition, the participants addressed priority areas for the development of green energy, improving energy efficiency, and implementing joint initiatives in renewable energy. The overarching goal of cooperation is to strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience and ensure the sustainable development of the energy sector.
Andarak stressed that Lithuania’s support has tangible value for Ukrainian energy workers and stands as a clear example of European solidarity amid Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
