BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 22. A memorial
evening marking the 90th anniversary of the birth of Yury Luzhkov,
a prominent Russian statesman who served as Mayor of Moscow from
1992 to 2010, was held at the Column Hall of the House of the
Unions in Moscow.
The event brought together Russian officials, public figures,
members of Yury Luzhkov’s family, as well as his colleagues and
friends.
Rahman Mustafayev, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Russia, read out
an address by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the
attendees.
In his message, President Aliyev emphasized that Yury Luzhkov is
remembered and deeply respected in Azerbaijan as a true friend who
made significant contributions to strengthening friendship and
cooperation between the peoples of the two countries, as well as
advancing intergovernmental ties between Azerbaijan and Russia.
The address further highlighted that the warm personal
relationship and mutual respect between Yury Luzhkov and Heydar
Aliyev, the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, played a
crucial role in expanding bilateral relations between Azerbaijan
and Russia.
