Israeli forces took control of the town of Deir Mimas in southern Lebanon and established positions near a Lebanese Army camp on the town’s outskirts, Lebanon 24 reports.
In response, the Lebanese Army command deployed reinforcements and military equipment to Deir Mimas from the nearby Burj al-Muluk area, according to the report. Lebanese troops also requested assistance from UN peacekeepers, who arrived at the scene and were attempting to de-escalate the situation.
Earlier, Israeli special forces entered the towns of Haddatha and Haris in the Bint Jbeil border district, where they established checkpoints and conducted searches for alleged Hezbollah members and supporters.
Lebanon 24 also reported that Israeli military movements had been observed in other areas of the central and western sectors of southern Lebanon, which it said pointed to an escalation in ground operations.
